EXPERIENCE

Inspired by Chapter 5 of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

EXPERIENCE.

Tom “Big Al” Schreiter once told me his training does
not work. He stretches about 75 minutes of teaching
into 3 hours in his workshops by providing all
attendees opportunities to practice each skill they are
shown.

Tom said most people who attend his workshops do not
acquire any SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE because they do not
practice the skills in the real world when they get
home.

If I had a strong BURNING DESIRE to bowl a perfect
300-point game, then I would need to acquire some
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE. I could read books on bowling,
visit and study some bowling websites, watch videos,
attend webinars and conference calls about bowling. I
could even use one of those high tech, motion capture
video games to practice the right moves.

But, at some point, I’ll have to actually go to a
bowling alley and hurl balls at some pins. I’m thinking
it would be best to have a coach at the alley with me
who has actually bowled a perfect game, or at least
come close to it.

BELIEFS

Inspired by Chapter 4 of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

BELIEFS.

Everybody believes something – even if You believe in
nothing, that is a belief. A belief is a concept deeply
imbedded in Your SUBCONSCIOUS mind, Your brain’s
Operating System.

Where do beliefs come from? How do they get there?

Some You are born with – programs encoded into Your DNA
via many generations of human experience (or perhaps
written in by Your Creator).

The rest are planted via SUGGESTION: Instructions
repeated to You over and over by Your parents,
teachers, preachers, media, etc. until they are burned
into Your Operating System. They are INSTILLED – a
method of conditioning by dripping.

Are You permanently limited by the beliefs Instilled
within You? NO! You can CHOOSE Your own Beliefs.

The trick is: You must use the same method of
Instilling others used on You. The practice is called
AUTO-SUGGESTION, or SELF-SUGGESTION, or SELF-TALK:
Instructions repeated by You to Yourself oVer and over
again.

In order to counter the contrary programming by others,
You must overwhelm them by saying Your SELF-TALK at
least 100 times a day. Only then can You replace Your
Beliefs with the Beliefs of Your CHOICE.

Your Operating System acts on stuff and communicates
with the universe based on its Belief Programming.

The SECRET is revealed yet again in this chapter.

You repeat Your DESIRE to achieve Your ONE DEFINITE
PURPOSE over and over, fueling it with the State of
Mind of having already achieved it (FAITH).

Your Subconscious Operating System will resist at first
– it will probably laugh at You heartily, but suddenly
one day ORGANIZED PLANS will reveal themselves to You.
You must take immediate ACTION on these Plans, and
PERSIST daily.

CONSISTENTLY following these steps is the Special Key
to making it work (The Slight Edge difference).

DESIRE. WHITE-HOT, BURNING DESIRE.

The DESIRE to achieve Your SINGULAR, DEFINITE PURPOSE
must be a white-hot and burning obsession. Why?

Because it will be tried by fire. A lump of coal
becomes a diamond only under tremendous heat and
pressure. What Jerry Clark calls “Murphy’s Committee”
will test You to see if You really want what You claim
to.

The trial by fire separates the weak from the strong,
the wheat from the chaff, the cream from the milk, the
winner from the wannabe.

The SECRET is again revealed in the story of Hill’s son
Blair, born without ears.

Hill DESIRED that Blair would hear and speak more than
anything else (ONE MAJOR DEFINITE PURPOSE), he DECIDED
it would be so, he KNEW it would be so, he ORGANIZED a
PLAN of ACTION to make it so, and he PERSISTED until
Blair heard and spoke. …And Hill was CONSISTENT in
all the above despite the trials and disappointments.
