2012: The End of Time? The End of the World?

2012: The End of Time? The End of the World?

Oh boy, I hope so!

Wait! Before You think me a nihilist, please read on…

Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “We have nothing to fear
but FEAR itself.” Yes, our psychological or imagined
fears are nothing but phantoms or GHOSTS. You can’t
kill them – they’re already dead, but You can OUTWIT
them by simply REALIZING what they are and removing
their POWER.

Fear is an animal EMOTION designed to trigger the
“fight or flight” response. When faced with mortal
danger, the response heightens our awareness, reflexes
and strength so we can eliminate or run away from the
threat.

But we humans like to trap and hold FEAR until it brews
into a toxic, life-sucking poison.

So, why do we live in this CULTURE OF FEAR?

Fear of Criticism: After years of being admonished and
punished for having the wrong answer, saying the wrong
thing, and speaking our minds at home, school, church,
and on the job – it’s no wonder we fear being
criticized or laughed at.

Fear of Old Age: Doesn’t even make sense. You’ve got to
meet my good friend Ernest Tucker. Shot down 3 times
during World War II while flying as a gunner, this 84
years young guy is the most vibrant, energetic,
fascinating person You may ever meet. Get a hug from
him and tell me if the word “old” ever crosses Your
mind!

The marketing of cosmetics, drugs, surgery and like
stuff is the cause of most of this fear. I’ve met folks
half Ernest’s age who look and feel old due to
fear-induced stress.

Fear of Ill Health: Marketing by the medical and
pharmaceutical communities. Nuff said.

Fear of Loss of Love: Marketing guilt trips by
jewelers, candy and greeting card companies, and music
and cinema.

Fear of Poverty and Death: Yeah, I group these together
because they come from the most insidious, evil kinds
of marketing there are. With Your money gone, You lose
the comforts of electricity and shelter – then You
starve and die… How nice!

Here’s why I avoid the news: On a recent road trip, I
glanced at a newspaper headline saying the United
States of America’s bond rating dropped from AAA to AA.

Now, were I a corporate CEO – a double AA rating would
be ecstatic news for me. But the USA? Oh no!

I thought, “Here we go…” Next come the doomsayers who
predict the fall of the electric grid, the sudden
vanishing of all food, followed closely by terror,
starvation, …and death. As if the “recession” wasn’t
bad enough!

Now, watch all the marketing of survival gear,
shelters, seeds, emergency food kits and such.
Do-it-yourself electric power generators. (Then You’ll
see lots of REAL death when dumb-asses try to erect
those babies!)

Well, if the American system falls, then its enemies
will be reading about it on handwritten flyers by the
light of oil lamps.

Y2K, anyone?

Once upon a time, the U.S. Department of Defense helped
keep its nation Free from Fear. Most of us never knew
about half the stuff we were protected from.

Now, in this wonderful high-speed information age, we
had September 11, 2001. The geniuses created a thing
called the Department of Homeland Security. They bring
us constant entertainment with every visit to an
airport, where we marvel at the latest procedures at
security check-in.

And, on our news broadcasts, we get the current
temperature, dew point, pollen count, air quality
index, and a new critter – the THREAT LEVEL.

Continually told there is a general threat, yet without
anything specific we can do about it, we find ourselves
in a limbo state of “fight or flight”, with nothing to
confront and nowhere to run.

DANGEROUS BELIEFS indeed. Just ask Saddam Hussein.

Oh yeah, You can’t. He was found guilty of bragging
about stuff he fantasized he had.

December 21, 2012 – the last day of the Mayan Calendar.
Well, had I been the chief stonecutter in charge, the
dumb thing would have ended in 1012. (“Let them build
their OWN dumb calendar!”)

It’s just a SOLSTICE – where our sun’s 26,000-year
orbit reaches its closest point to the galactic center.
Like Earth’s solstices, the days get gradually longer
or shorter, but there is no cataclysm on the first day
of summer or winter.

Nevertheless, every nutcase on the planet is writing a
book or making a movie about how the world will end. A
lot of books and DVD’s are being sold. …Marketing,
yet again!

In his book “Beyond 2012″, Geoff Stray wrote, “The
theories concern solar cycles, asteroids and comets,
rogue planets, plasma bands, the exploding galactic
core, and other ideas, and the outcomes are predicted
to be everything from burnt-out power stations to total
wipeout. One thing is for sure – they can’t ALL be
right.”

Others speculate a reconciliation of Belief, Faith, and
Science – a coming Age of Awakening Consciousness.

And THAT is the outcome I hope to see – the end of the
world as we know it.

BEWARE THE DEVIL’S WORKSHOP.

There will always be those among You who will try to
steal Your Dreams – even some whom You would think
should know better. Beware.

Your Friend and Servant,

P.S. Let us not contribute to the Marketing of FEAR,
let us rather be Merchants of HOPE!
